Children's Splatter Experience – Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to children’s splatter-painting classes and private children’s parties provided by Alma Tipon trading as Paperdoll Art Studio, Wimbledon Art Studios, 10 Riverside Yard, London SW17 0BB (“Paperdoll Art Studio”, “we”, “us” or “the Studio”).
Please read these Terms and Conditions before booking.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By completing a booking, the person making the booking confirms that:
They are at least 18 years old.
They have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
They have the authority of the participating child’s parent or legal guardian to make the booking.
They will ensure that all parents, guardians and accompanying adults receive any information relevant to the session.
The booking becomes confirmed once payment has been received and a booking confirmation has been issued.
2. Age and Eligibility
The applicable age requirement will be shown in the individual experience description:
Public Children’s Splatter Class: ages 7+
Express Private Splatter Party: ages 6+
Private Booking Splatter Party: 6+
The Studio may refuse participation where a child does not meet the applicable age requirement or where we reasonably believe participation would create a significant safety risk to that child, another guest, an artist or property.
Please contact us before booking if you are unsure whether an experience is suitable.
3. Parental or Guardian Authority
The person making the booking confirms that:
They have the legal authority or appropriate permission to arrange each child’s participation.
All information supplied during booking is accurate and complete.
The child is capable of participating safely in an instructed group activity, subject to any needs disclosed to us.
They will remain contactable throughout the session.
The person making the booking is responsible for obtaining permission from the parent or legal guardian of every child included in a group booking.
4. Health, Allergies and Additional Support
Relevant allergies, medical conditions, disabilities, injuries, sensory sensitivities, behavioural needs and support requirements must be disclosed before the session.
Providing this information does not necessarily prevent participation. It allows us to consider whether reasonable adjustments can be made and whether the activity can be delivered safely.
We may contact the parent or guardian to discuss a child’s requirements. If we cannot safely accommodate a requirement, we will explain this and may offer an alternative where reasonably possible.
Paperdoll Art Studio does not provide medical advice, individual personal care or specialist behavioural support. A child who requires individual assistance must attend with an appropriate parent, carer or support person agreed with us in advance.
5. Supervision
Our children’s classes are supervised drop-off creative workshops. The assigned artist supervises children during the published session time while delivering the activity. Supervision does not extend to individual childcare, personal care or one-to-one behavioural support unless agreed with us in advance.
Parents must remain contactable throughout the session and collect their child promptly at the stated finish time. Paperdoll Art Studio is not responsible for supervising children before the session begins or after it ends.
Where the experience states that it is led by a DBS-checked artist, we will allocate an artist who holds the required DBS check.
Private children’s parties
For parties involving children aged six and above, parents may leave and return when the session finishes. However, a minimum of one and a maximum of three responsible adults must remain on-site throughout the party.
Parents and accompanying adults are not permitted inside the splatter room unless agreed by the Studio. They may wait in the designated communal area.
The Studio may require additional adult supervision where reasonably necessary because of the children’s ages, needs or group size.
6. Arrival and Collection
Guests must arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time to complete the required forms and put on protective equipment.
Sessions begin promptly. A guest arriving 10 minutes or more after the scheduled start may be refused entry where admitting them would be unsafe or would disrupt the experience.
A late arrival or missed session will be treated as a no-show and will not normally qualify for a refund, credit or rescheduling.
Paperdoll Art Studio is not responsible for supervising children before the published start time or after the published finish time.
Children will only be released to the parent, guardian or authorised person identified during booking. Any alternative collection arrangement must be agreed with us in advance.
If a child is not collected on time, we will attempt to contact the parent, guardian and emergency contact. Any serious or continuing safeguarding concern may be referred to the appropriate authorities.
7. Clothing, Protective Equipment and Belongings
Splatter painting is a messy activity. Paint may reach clothing, footwear, hair, bags, mobile phones and other belongings.
We provide protective overalls, gloves, shoe covers and safety glasses. Protective equipment reduces the risk of paint transfer but cannot prevent it completely.
Participants should:
Wear comfortable, older clothes and shoes.
Use all protective equipment as instructed.
Tie back long hair where appropriate.
Leave jewellery and valuable belongings at home.
Store personal belongings in the area indicated by the artist.
To the extent permitted by law, Paperdoll Art Studio will not be responsible for staining or damage resulting from the ordinary and expected nature of splatter painting where appropriate protective equipment and instructions have been provided. This does not exclude responsibility where loss or damage is caused by our negligence or breach of contract.
8. Behaviour and Safety
Participants must follow the artist’s safety instructions and use the materials and equipment appropriately.
The following are not permitted:
Running inside the studio.
Physical aggression or bullying.
Throwing paint or materials at another person unless expressly directed as part of the activity.
Deliberate misuse of paint, tools or protective equipment.
Damage to artwork, furniture or property.
Behaviour that creates a safety risk or seriously disrupts the session.
We may pause or end a child’s participation where reasonably necessary to protect that child, other guests, artists or property.
The responsible adult may be asked to assist, collect the child or remove them from the session. A refund will not normally be provided where participation ends because of unsafe, aggressive or seriously disruptive behaviour.
9. Paints and Art Materials
Participants must use paints, tools and other materials only as instructed by the artist.
Materials must not be swallowed, placed near the eyes or deliberately applied to another person. Participants must wash their hands after the activity and before eating.
Any known allergy or sensitivity to paint, latex, gloves, cleaning products or other art materials must be disclosed before participation.
10. Emergencies and First Aid
If a child becomes unwell, is injured or cannot continue safely, we will contact the parent, guardian or emergency contact.
Where immediate assistance is reasonably required, trained staff may provide basic first aid and contact the emergency services. Nothing in these Terms limits the Studio’s legal responsibilities concerning health, safety or safeguarding.
11. Photography and Video
Permission to use a child’s photograph or video for advertising, social media, our website or other promotional purposes is optional and is not required to participate.
Marketing permission must be collected through a separate consent question or form. Parents or guardians may decline without affecting the booking.
Where consent is provided, it may be withdrawn for future use by contacting us. Withdrawal cannot always remove material that has already been printed, published or shared by third parties.
Parents and guests must not photograph or record other children without permission from their parents or guardians.
Personal information and images will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
12. Artwork and Collection
Each artwork is individually created, and results will vary. We cannot guarantee particular colours, patterns or finishes.
Paintings normally require approximately three days to dry. Collection instructions will be provided after the session.
Artwork must be collected within 14 days after the splatter session.
A £5 takeaway box may be available for each 30 × 40 cm canvas. Taking wet artwork home is at the customer’s own risk, and we cannot guarantee that it will not move, drip or become damaged during transport.
Delivery or courier services may be available for an additional charge. Separate delivery conditions may apply.
13. Communal Celebration Area
Access to the communal celebration area is only included or available where stated in the booking confirmation.
Customers must provide their own decorations, cake, food, drinks, plates, cups and other party items. These are not supplied by Paperdoll Art Studio unless expressly agreed in writing.
Food and drinks are not permitted inside the splatter room.
Guests must:
Use only the area allocated to their group.
Follow the confirmed access and finishing times.
Supervise children while using the communal area.
Remove decorations, food and personal belongings.
Place rubbish in the bags or bins provided.
Leave the area reasonably clean and tidy.
Additional time or cleaning charges may apply where agreed in advance or where the group significantly exceeds its allocated time or leaves unreasonable damage or mess. Any charge must reflect the reasonable additional cost incurred.
14. Damage to Property
The booking holder may be responsible for reasonable repair or replacement costs where a participant or guest deliberately or recklessly damages Studio or venue property.
We will provide details of the damage and the reasonable cost claimed. This clause does not apply to normal wear and tear or accidental damage arising from the proper use of materials during the instructed activity.
15. Cancellations and Rescheduling by Customers
Requests to reschedule must be received at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time.
Requests received fewer than 48 hours before the session will not normally qualify for a refund, credit or rescheduling, including where a guest cannot attend because of illness, travel disruption or a change of plans.
Late arrival and non-attendance are treated as cancellations by the customer.
Any exception is entirely discretionary, offered as a gesture of goodwill and does not change the standard policy.
Where a customer cancels, any amount retained by the Studio will be limited to what is permitted under applicable consumer law, taking account of the circumstances and losses reasonably incurred.
Bookings for leisure activities taking place on a specified date or during a specified period may not carry the usual 14-day cooling-off right applicable to some online purchases.
16. Changes or Cancellations by the Studio
We may change, postpone or cancel a session because of:
Artist illness or unavailability.
Venue or equipment problems.
Insufficient public-session attendance.
Health, safety or safeguarding concerns.
Severe weather, transport disruption or events beyond our reasonable control.
If we cancel and cannot deliver the booked service, customers will be offered an appropriate alternative date, credit or refund.
We are not responsible for additional expenses such as travel, accommodation, catering or decorations unless the law requires otherwise.
17. Prices and Payment
Prices are displayed at the time of booking. A booking is not confirmed until the required payment has been received.
Any optional extras, additional participants, canvas upgrades, delivery charges or agreed additional time must be paid for separately.
The number of participants booked must not be exceeded without our prior agreement and payment of any additional charge.
18. Our Responsibility to Customers
We will provide the experience with reasonable care and skill.
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for:
Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Breach of statutory consumer rights.
Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
We are not liable for business losses because our services are supplied for private, personal use.
Nothing in these Terms affects the customer’s statutory rights.
19. Personal Information
Personal information supplied during booking will be used to administer the booking, deliver the experience, communicate with the parent or guardian and meet our legal, insurance and safeguarding responsibilities.
Information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Health and support information should only be requested and retained where genuinely necessary.
20. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Customers living in another part of the United Kingdom may also be entitled to bring proceedings in their local courts.
